Dancing With Patricia, LLC CODE OF CONDUCT


We, the dancers, instructors, and participants of Dancing With Patricia (hereinafter referred to as "DWP") are a vibrant community of individuals who have a high regard for each other, the art of dance, and the respectability and value of the environment we share.  All who participate are requested to demonstrate the willingness to be held accountable to uphold the values and conduct we hold fundamental to a safe and nurturing community. In all of our endeavors to learn, compete, and perform in our love of dance and means of expression, we show respect to the parents, students, peers, instructors, and guests of DWP and the wider dance community, including our competition.  We consider it a privilege to participate in a worldwide community and choose to exemplify the values of integrity, leadership, responsibility, character, professionalism, education, and equality. 

At DWP, our mission is to provide affordable, high quality dance education and social opportunities in an environment where individual expression, goals, experience, ability, and backgrounds are accepted, embraced, and nurtured.



    1. To conduct oneself with honesty, courtesy, and respect.   Lies, gossip, passive aggression, violence, dishonesty, and cheating will not be tolerated.

    2. To lead by example and honor commitments. 

    3. To be an individual other people can count on and trust.


    1. To guide, direct and influence individuals in achieving their highest goals and ideals, whether specifically related to the art of dance or to achieve a personal goal, be that physical, mental, emotional, or social. 

    2. To set an example of positivity and encouragement through one’s actions and speech. 

    3. To inspire and serve the individuals of your class, team, or community, setting a tone of giving more than taking.


    1. To respect and adhere to the policies and procedures of the studio or the organizers of any class, workshop, convention, performance, or competition. 

    2. To interact with peers and authority figures in a mature manner. 

    3. To make inquiry of authority in a respectful manner. 

    4. To speak of any issue or grievance to the person who is able to resolve any concern.


    1. To be a person who represents high levels of personal integrity, leadership, and responsibility for oneself and others. 

    2. To act with the courage and willingness to face issues and concerns with maturity and dignity, and address the issues in a direct and timely manner with the individual(s), instructor(s), or student(s)/parent(s) involved.

    3. To avoid gossip, criticism, or denigrating comments for any member of the dance community, instructor(s), parent(s), or peer(s). 


    1. To respect the dance profession and uphold values and standards of conduct. 

    2. To support and encourage one another as individuals, dancers, and artists.

    3. To voice opinions in the interest of constructive feedback and positive growth of the dance community.

    4. To represent oneself as a role model at all times. 

    5. To respect the study and performance of dance as a universal art form and international community.


    1. To promote a spirit of inquiry, creativity & high expectations for oneself and other members of the community.

    2. To demonstrate collaboration, accountability, and continued professional growth as both an instructor and a dancer.

    3. To respect roles, rights & responsibilities of participants.

    4. To openly seek feedback, as an instructor or assistant, on how effective and accurate one's teaching methods and content are, from students and other instructors within the community, and guest professionals from outside of the local community.

    5. To recognize and acknowledge through action that as a student in the room it is respectful of both the instructor and your fellow students to refrain from teaching while in rotation.  As students in rotation we must take responsibility for our own learning and help our partner by being the best dancer that we can be in that moment, and by offering feedback only when asked to do so.


    1. To safeguard the dignity of individuals participating in DWP functions.

    2. To avoid descrimination based upon race, age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, philosophical or political opinion, marital status or other unfair or irrelevant grounds.

    3. To avoid excluding dancers based on experience level, ability, choice of role, or any other related factor.

    4. To embrace DWP's degendered environment, encouraging dancers to choose their role (leader or follower) of preference and the exploration of both leading and following.

    5. To respect the time and energies of other students and participants at events when they are assisting you in personal learning or growth, acknowledging each individual's equal right to learn at and enjoy events.
